Does anyone think these high cure rate numbers on are a bit exagerated?

Completed 12 week program of Viekira XR with ribavirin. Treatment failed still have hep C. The company claims to have nearly 100 percent cure rate. I find that hard to believe. My liver is not badly scarred yet and i am a healthy and relatively young person, which is why i question the cure rate numbers. 85 grand a treatment and they'd almost have to ******** the numbers.

Hi here is the link for the medication if you want to take a look.  I know when I failed the first time, after 48 weeks of tx, I was so upset. I lost my job after treating as it made me so sick.  I see with the medication you were on there are medications one can't take with it. I clicked on the medical personnel to see if I could find anything.

To add to what Flyinlynn said, the cure rates cited in trial results are often a bit higher than real world experience. The reason for that is the clinical trials have very strict rules about who can enter the trial. They take people who they feel have the best chance of a good response. If you have cirrhosis,, the cure rate for Viekira Pak is approximately 90% in previous non-responders to the old treatments. Have you talked with your doc about trying one of the other treatments?

Cure rates in real world use are reflective of clinical trial data. Unfortunately almost 100% does not mean 100%. Also the higher cure rates are for those  Who are treatment naïve and without cirrhosis  or significant liver damage.

Unfortunately there have been those who don't fit that criteria that have failed initial treatment. But they have gone on to treat with other medicines like Epclusa… And then been cured of hepatitis C
