I was type 2. When first diagnosed I already had decompensated cirrhosis. I did the treatment and relapsed.
Got a liver transplant, did the treatment again, and was successful.

If you have little to no fibrosis, you could consider waiting for new easier treatment options that are doing well in clinical trials. It's all about the health of your liver. That should be your paramount concern.

Hi i just treated for type 2 i will be all done with my meds this Friday treated for 24 weeks i went undetectable at 4 weeks i treated with interferon and ribavirin it was a little rough but i did it

If your doctor is so unsure about weather you should treat and dont know enough data maybe its time for you to see a better treating doctor a hepatologist should be able to help you make a better choice for you

good luck to you

Geno 2 is suppose to be the easiest to cure.

I am shortly to turn 64 May 8.  Doctor is non- committing.  Doesn't want to make the decision.  Thinks its a 50/50.  Not enough data on people like me.  I have had it for over 30yrs.  Non- drug user, don't smoke, didn't drink much, not at all now.   So I am on the fence.

No, I wouldn't work, when I do the treatment. I think I pretty much have decided I can wait for the new treatment.  The only thing I have going against me is my age.  But I also feel that's a good reason to wait because it would be easier on me.

Yes I think were going to try the new treatment thats suppose to be coming out for geno 2 at the end of this year. If he did have to go back on PEG/RIB treatment it would be the full year this time and we don't think he could handle the full year, he got very depressed and platelets and WBC dropped dangerously low. He really didn't have the flu like symptoms that usually come along with this treatment, he didn't lose his hair or become naseus like most do. His many downfall with treatment was extreme mood swings, thinks set him off very easy and he would lose his temper QUICK. He deff lost his sex drive completely. He was very tired, he slept alot during the day but then at night had insomnia bad, the doctors put him on ambien to try to help with that. He was very depressed at times, I got to where I wasn't comfortable leaving himself alone so I watched him alot. Are you cirrhotic?

Yes the meds effect sex drive, and since you went off HRT that can contribute. I am 2b and doing peg/riba. I have 8 shots left. We are considered lucky!! It's the easiest to treat. Do you have to work during treatment??
