Hair loss

On a 12 week treatment with peg , ribavirin and sovaldi should I experience hair loss ? I am a hairstylist with very long thick hair ,still planning on working . Not planning to tell clients about treatment ,mostly due to fear they will not understand . How much hair loss should I expect?

Good advice . Think I will take the wait and see aproach as far as the hair goes . I have chopped it off before . Planning on working through treatment but docs would rather have me stay home and rest . Guess I will have to wait and see about that as well .
Thanks for the diet tips . Why no carbonated beverages ? Even club soda ? That's my go to drink .

sorry...computer was acting crazy....if you work appearance is important but defeating this beast within you is more important.  My hair now is kind of cut in a Halle Berry pixie...I can run my hands through it and I am ready to go.  I like it.  It never grew past my shoulders again but that's okay...all that hair was heavy and a lot of work and God forbid if it was a humid day it would grow and grow and I'd end up looking like I had one of those crazy clown wigs on..

Surprised OP didn't mention but she had reminded me of how coconut oil works too....

The most important thing is to focus on eating well, drinking water, I eat a diet now of mostly vegetable and fruit....eat salmon a couple of times a week, cut out red meats, sugar, sodium, carbonated beverages....drink oolong tea and cold press coffee (has 65% less acidity) and drink plenty of water, make my own lemonade and take Omega 3 Plus Fish capsules....

Good luck...a quick style change...and a big smile hide a lot.

It's probably the riba with peg giving it a pat on the back.  when I started all of this I had waist length blond curly hair so curly the only way to style it was to wash it every day.....I started losing handful of hair...had a lot of breakage to what was a head of hair people would stop me on the street to comment on.  One day I did a big pony tail and clipped off the pony tail,

OP is right...it should grow back...I know it is important to you right now due to your line of work...restyle it....when all this was happening to me I was running several rock and roll bars and appearance WAS import

I treated with Sovoldi and Ribavirin and didn't lose any hair.  Prior cancer survivor and lost it then, but not with this treatment.  Actually while on these meds and after being off, my hair still looks healthy and full.
BTW.  Anxiety will cause hair loss all by itself.  Try not to worry and you may be fine.

I will have to learn not to worry about things before they happen .Start taking life one day at a time ,and take deep breaths .I think I am trying to prepare myself mentally for things to come . Fear of the unknown . I have had many clients go through lots of bad medical issues ,I was always the cheerleader. Will have to remember my own advice ! Thank You ☺️

I have short thick hair, I did same Tx as you. My hair hardly grew at all during Tx, but about 1 month post Tx my hair started dropping out, I have probably lost half, but no one can tell but myself. Not falling out in clumps but a hair at a time. I bet it was the ribabirin as it does a number on the skin too. I have heard it will grow back about six months post Tx. Hair got very dry very quickly during Tx, it was almost the first Sx I noticed. Don't wash your hair very much, use a soft brush, keep drinking lots of water. My hairstylist said my hair was so thick to begin with, my hair will now be like everyone else. I can tell because not only are hairs falling out as I work on my computer but I can see my scalp. It is only temporary, and not as bad as my friend who did chemo for cancer. Good luck!
