Hep A tx question?????

What was the standard tx for people back in the 1980's that came down with hep A?Did they also get the Gammaglobulin shot or was their tx different?I was given a gamma globulin shot but dont know what they did to my sis as far as tx???

Yes, I think it is the gamma globulin shot.  As Bill said, there was no treatment of any duration - just that shot.

Hi Cindy,

To my knowledge, Hep A doesn’t have a chronic phase, only an acute phase; and doesn’t require a therapeutic treatment to resolve it. I think sometimes dehydration can occur badly enough to require IV saline, but it universally resolves over the comparatively  short duration of infection. Of course therapeutic vaccines for prevention are available for it now...
