if I have hepatitis A would it take over a year for me to have elevated AST/ALT levels? I had normal AST/ALT 6 months ago. I started having chronic fatigue a couple months or less after being exposed to possibly contaminated food/water
I had a liver test for AST/ALT about 6 months ago and that was normal
I just read a study that coffee decreases alcoholic liver cirrhosis especially at 4 cups or more/day
thanks very much! does it mean my liver has been damaged? I have chronic fatigue now for over a year
I was living in southeast asia where I may have had contaminated food and water. I don't use drugs or alcohol- the doctor ordered a hepatitis panel
these levels could be chronic hepatitis or autoimmune? my WBC is a little high I was also taking metformin, choline, biotin, pregnenelone
I've never had a blood transfusion though I've had some blood tests at medical offices
Do you have a risk factor for hepatitis?
hep A is transmitted mainly through contaminated food or water.
hep B is a classic STD and is easily transmitted through sexual activity
Hep C is a blood borne disease and is usually transmitted through blood transfusion
before 1992, sharing equipment for Ivdu and, rarely, through sex.
Your Alt is elevated so you should see a doctor about that. he will probably ask you
about your past. Be honest about your sex life and drug use, if any.
There are MANY reasons for elevated Alt/Ast. hepatitis is only one.
