High ALT

I am 40 year old male. I have been in good health and do not drink.

I had to go through liver function test (LFT) last week for work related medical. My ALT is 73 (lab ref range is 50), HCV is negative. HBsAg result is still due. I am wondering if I can understand the reason for the elevated ALT?. Is this range of ALT typical if HBsAg is positive or one should expect it multifold higher?

i am kind of in your shoes i am a 40 year old female with weird problems mostly gastric but i am now thinking it is the chronic hep b. I have  developed gastritis, gastroperesis, esophogus failure and joint pain especially my knees. do you have any of this?  do you have hepatits b? have you been sick?  i never was and now i am really sick and the dr.s move so slow.  the only blood test that has come back bad is my protein level was low do you know what that means.  i used to love life and now i live in misery but still try to stay happy how about you? what symtoms do you have.

It can also be elevated with certain medications as well. Tylenol, motrin, or other over the counter meds sometimes do it as well. there is a lot of information over the internet about drug induced elevated enzymes.. Google it..

Lab is showing HC negative. I can have it checked again. I am still waiting for HB result. I read that ALT fluctuates with fatty/greasy diet. I have unusual high fatty food a day earlier the blood  samples was collected (though sample was collected after 8-10 hrs of fastening.
