I got a cut at barber by a hair clipper. Am I at risk of hcv?

Hey there, hope you all are doing great. I was getting a haircut at a barber shop. While he was finishing things up with a hair clipper, he accidently cut my ear. I got a tetanus shot soonafter.

Am I at risk of HCV, HIV, Or anything else? If yes, what should I do next.

Thanks

If you are in the US or other developed country the barber should using universal precautions to prevent transmission of blood borne illnesses. Hep c is a blood borne virus so if the shop is not using proper precautions there could be a possible risk of transmission.

If concerned wait 12 weeks and have a hepatitis c antibody test. If you are positive for antibodies other testing will be needed. The good news is hep c is now very treatable with treatments boasting cure rates for most patients above 98%

For other blood borne illnesses ask in the related forum.
