Question regarding Hepatitis C

hello all,
i would like to tell my story maybe you have an idea what is going on because i really do not.

a year ago these times(in august) i was in ER for my sore throat. ER doctor told me it was farengitis and suggested that I should have medication by needle right then and there. I did not check the nurse neither the needle used to inject medication to the butt.

Then it started itching and it was sensitive so i just left it alone. As months go by i felt something was wrong with my overall health and body.

For over months I have been feeling:
-extreme fatigue
-sleepy all the time
-extreme overall muscle weakness
-sometimes palpitations
-weird and irregular stool

have you any idea about what is going on? could these be the symtomps of hcv?

True there have been some incidents but rare.  I do recall and endoscopy center in the Las Vegas area a few years ago that was using a large bottle of polypropafol  to sedate patients reusing the same bottle. Big news everyone getting tested for hep b and c along with hiv. Of course the clinic was closed the doctor lost  his license I’m sure there is jail time and lawsuits filed. So thankfully not a common place in Ari so thankfully not a common place scenario

These were my initial symptoms of HepC in its acute stage when the antibody test came back negative.  Three months later the test was positive.   Contrary to someone else's post, HepC can be contracted in medical settings from misuse of needles.

Yes of course it could be contracted by mid use of needles but I cannot imagine any licensed facility behaving in a manner in violation of standard medical protocol and in violation of their licenses. Now I’d we are talking third world countries and especially in a substandard medical facility that could be a concern but as the OP said they went to an ER I made the assumption they were speaking about a hospital thus a licensed fully functioning medical facility.

The symptoms of tiredness and muscle aches are very vague and non specific they could be associated with thousands of medical conditions or simply the need to get better sleep or being under stress.

And yes initial hep c antibody testing g should be done 12 weeks after a concerning g even as it can talk that long for sufficient antibodies to develop to detectable levels. Having a hep c antibody test performed immediately after a possible exposure will not be of any diagnostic value.

Did you have a follow up test with the HCV RNA by PCR to confirm actual current infection and have you since been successfully treated?
I was successfully treated 17 years after dx, with Harvoni.   As for what you can't imagine:  One of many examples: North Shore Hospital in NY, a licensed physician infected numerous patients.

Why would you go to the ER for a sore throat anyway? Were you having difficulty breathing or an inability to swallow?

I had a sore throat with cough a couple of months ago the gave me some cough syrup and an inhaler.

Usually the  simplest cause is the most likely cause.

Or simply stress related. Excessive worry resulting in poor sleep causing tiredness. Stress related tension causing muscle pain. Palpitations are often associated with stress as well as gastrointestinal issues.

In other words you very easily could be the cause of your symptoms.

For hepatitis C monoinfection, these symptoms are not characteristic. This is similar to EBV or HIV, the beginning is the same with sore throat, but there may be all three plus hepatitis C or B, so the doctor and the clinic here can not be the cause of your condition.

You won’t be contracting hep c in licensed medical setting

Hep c for the majority of people have no symptoms which is why it is called a silent illness

Those are not symptoms of initial hep c infection

See your doctor
