Immunity for Hepatitis C

I've heard that if you're vaccinated against Hepatitis B, you are completely protected against Hepatitis C.  Is this true?

No, you are not protected against Hepatitis C.  Hep B and C are two separate viruses that require different treatments.  I have both B and C.   I contracted Hep B in 1972 and the treatment prescribed was rest and a good diet.  There was no test for Hep C at that time and I was diagnosed with only Hep B.  The Hep B can always be detected by a blood test.  In 1992, I was diagnosed with Hep C and the doctor told me I probably contracted it when I got the Hep B.  There was no significant treatment for Hep C in 1992 and my liver continued to deteroriate into cirrhosis.  In 2003 I was blessed with a liver transplant.  Both Hep B and C are still in my body, but I am doing very well since the transplant.  Unfortunately, the Hep C starts deteroriating the new liver but it is a guess on how long this new liver will last me.  So, be careful.  Once you contract Hep C, it is difficult to get rid of with the treatment drugs available.
