Introducing Notes
Hi,
We've had a lot of requests from our members for the ability to leave a quick note of support, congrats, a thank you, or even a hug, to other members without having to start a new discussion within the forum. We thought this was another great idea from the MedHelp Community and we're pleased to announce we've just launched Notes. We now have 9 themed notes that you can quickly write to other members, simply by hovering over their name and clicking "Leave a Note". Most recent notes will appear right on the members profile, and we've added a new tab called "Notes" where all of them will be listed.
Leave a quick note for a friend and try it out! Thanks for the terrific ideas, and keep the feedback coming.

Why have you added a default box already checked that automatically enlists you as a member?
IF I wanted to join a community I can easily join. For me it looks as if you want people to join and are "helping them join". For people who don't wish to join the community they must uncheck the default or they are automatically enrolled each time they post. (for those of you who don't know what I'm referring to it is a little box that recently showed up underneath the posting form to the left of the "Post Comment" button.)
Would you enjoy it if every time you bought gasoline you were automatically charged for a car wash unless you unchecked a default?
It isn't the end of the world but I don't enjoy being pushed into joining or accidentally enrolling just because I forget to uncheck a box. You're fortunate I'm being so nice about it; if Andy Rooney has encountered this he would have served you up with some fava beans and a fine chianti.

I second JDs opinion. If I wanted facebook I would post there. Please free up the right side of the screen:).
Please get rid of this Notes feature, or else make it private. We are not teenagers and this is not MySpace or Facebook. You are losing good contributors who were an asset to this site because you have so changed the look and feel of the forum that it not has very little to do with exchanging information about Hep C. Keep in mind that is the reason we come here, for information, not to socialize.
Many of our best contributors no longer participate in the forum. I will not come here nearly so often myself, as this place has changed and not for the better.

I agree with Trish re privacy. Will you please consider taking you note feature out of the "recent activity" reporting? Otherwise I won't find it useful.

I think your notes is a lovely idea. However, I think it should be private. It doesn't list who is sending messages to whom and I don't think it should be public who is sending notes to whom either. What is the benefit of everyone knowing who we're all sending notes to? I'm less likely to send a note if everyone knows who I'm sending notes to and I will be far less likely to send them. That's simply a private matter. That's my take on it.
