Is Anyone Seeing Hair Loss From Harvoni?

Or is it just my male pattern baldness getting worse? So far Harvoni has been symptom free at week 3 but I seem to be getting balder. If it is a side effect then it's a small price to pay and I'm not complaining.

I realize this is an aged thread, but it would be nice to know if anyone else who treated with Harvoni has had symptoms such as what Printze has described. Sorry you're having these post-treatment issues, by the way. Maybe this should be a new thread in the post-treatment community.

I have had more hair loss since, but do not feel it is related to Harvoni. 56 year old male and losing in the typical male pattern baldness areas. Not too bad, but still sucks!

No depression or anxieties.

Take care all,
Marc

Hi Lagania,  I am no expert, but I would wait 6 mos. if you are going to drink alcohol....only in my limited opinion from things that I have read at this point. To be sure that you are free of virus, bcz alcohol replicates the virus...so if you have any live buggers left... maybe could replicate.??? Anyone advice else on this?????

Going on week 11 for my 12 weeks of Harvoni treatment, no hair loss at all so far.....have a full head of hair. Only extremely tired at times, or brain fog... but push myself to the gym and usually I feel better, also with more water intake,  less fatigue. What about alcohol after treatment? Not an abusive drinker but love a cocktail every now and then. Been diagnosed with Hep C for about 2,5 years.

hi.

the harvoni treatment (12 weeks) ended in july, i am hcv free, but have obvious hair loss in the last months. not so severe as the one endured 8 years ago with the 6 months interferon/ribavirin treatment, which was a disaster in every aspect (hair, skin, weight, energy, mood, and, on top of it all, the virus was still there in the end), but nevertheless very noticeable.

let's see if this time the hair regrows as before (although it came back weaker) -- mine and everybody's. harvoni is truly great but has much more side effects than what was announced. even though when we compare it with the previous treatments it's near to nothing.

good luck to you all

maria

I didn't do Harvoni but Sovaldi/Riba/Interferon but my hair loss didn't occur until after Tx and continued for a while, but now hair has grown back to normal 10 months eot.

Thanks for the replies. I use coconut oil on my skin and it works great. I use Avon hand lotion on my feet and hands. I guess I'll see if hair loss progresses. I'm not real worried about it but wondering if other's were seeing that as a side effect.

I was on the sofosbuvir and gs 5186 for 12 weeks. About halfway thru I started noticing hair loss , and it also got very limp and straw like. My skin was extremely dry to and my fingernails got horrible. The 22 nd will be 2 months since my last med and fingernails are back to normal and hair is slowly getting there. I still get bad bouts of dry skin

Incivek tx was awful! Much worse than just peg n Riba. I lost about 80% of my hair. It did recover. That is one thing I can also say...thanks for helping me think of it :)

I am in wk. 6 Harvoni/ RIBV, no hair loss at all. On triple w/ incivik I got bad, bad  rash and lost handfuls of hair. It was so bad I had my head shaved. 6 months EOT it all grew back. When nothing is going right for me I joke that at least I still have my hair. Good luck w/ the hair.

I just completed my 12 week treatment and no hair loss.  One thing that is happening to me, is both big toes are discolored and there is a small amount of pain associated with the toes.  This could be totally unrelated to the Harvoni.  I am following it up with a pediatrist.

Hey there, I did a search for this and found others talking about hair loss.
I think it is a normal side effect only because when I and others treated we lost hair.  Everyone had varying degrees of it.  I did not use the same medication but it was for the same purpose. Take Care, Dee

I lost a lot of hair on Sovaldi/Olysio but then it grew back after I finished treatment. I think it was hormones because I also had hot flashes a lot. Still have that one. :) I never had them during menopause so I guess it's time.
