It's My Turn - I'M CURED!

12 EOT VL UND! I'm holding back tears of joy. I felt that I was cured but couldn't be certain until now. What a long strange trip it's been. Thank you to everyone here for helping me get through the horrible interferon based tx which failed and helping me get through the Harvoni tx which worked. There is another hep c support group which I quickly gave up on for numerous reasons. This site was my only support. The people on here are wonderful. No one is judgmental of those who admit to being former IV drug users. No one puts down people who admit to being gay or those with an HIV co-infection. (I am neither and suspect a tattoo) I would have had a much harder time getting through this without the help of everyone here. A special recognition to those who have cured and stay on here to help others. I will check in occasionally but I need to put this chapter of my life behind me for the most part. My Dr. does want to retest me in 9 months but I know that I'm cured. Since my fibroscan showed a healthy liver I've been enjoying a few beers on the boat. If I hadn't cleared the virus it would have come back with a vengeance. I am so happy to be the latest to post that I'm cured. I look forward to the day that this forum becomes obsolete but there are still plenty of people who need to get these new drugs and get cured. Now hopefully they can find a cure for all of the people living with HIV. Thanks again. I love you all! Carl.
Type 1a
Tx experienced, triple therapy, failed
Probably infected for 25-30 years
No measurable liver damage
Cured with 12 weeks of Harvoni

Each of those 3 drugs alone had the potential of severe side effects; the 3 combined were absolutely brutal. My wife was sure I was going to die from the incivik rash alone. There was a very high drop out rate.

Thanks for the kind words. Printze, His way, I'm betting you guys will be next to post good news. I'll keep looking to see! Idyllic, yeah, the doc never warned me that interferon would hit like a ton of bricks. I was really caught off guard. I was given misleading cure rates too. They told me 80%. Now I'm reading only 40% cured with triple!
