Liver enzyne texts

How soon are most people tested after starting tx and do there lft numbers usualy go up the 1st week or two. I was wonder if not why. It seems like they would go up to start with because treatment results in the death of infected liver cells. It seems this would raise the LFT levels in the beginning. Thanks Rick

Thanks for your posts. Does that mean in the beginning like week one or two the numbers go up or down. NYgirl are you saying that the liver cell is already dead so releases no more of the enzyne. the reason I'm asking these questions is for a friend that has hep C and his numbers went up the first two weeks especialy ALT phos. I think its called.

A liver enzyme is released when a liver cell DIES - so the less cell death the less high the number on the test.   Liver cells die because of the virus - the virus dies from the meds.

The important thing is to get a viral load at week 4 of txing. You want to know when you clear the virus.
