Lookin Good but for Hemoglobin

Just got my test results. That's one thing nice I can say about my insurance. Results in my profile page within 6-7 hours after they pull the needle out of my arm

Labs still looking good - not much different than last time - but hemoglobin down to 10.5

I reviewed some older  posts from the Last time I worried about this. For those whose HMG tanked, it did so relatively quickly - like 2 weeks in. I'm 6 weeks into treatment so it's still going down thanks to the Riba, but not plummeting

But this could easily explain why I am not feeling all that great

Anyone had their HMG decline just stop and stabilize on its own? While still treating?

Yes I went down to 9.3 at week 3 so we dose redced from 1200 to 1000.

I was bad and bailed on the Riba 10 days before EOT with Harvoni. We started 9 weeks late and I figured if I wasnt cured by day 158 of 168 the exrea 10 days of riba would not make any difference.

So anyway I hadn't tested since March 18 as my HGB had been stable for several weeks at 10.0 so I dont know exaclty where it was on April 24 when I threw in the towel on the Riba

But I do know that my result just 10 days after stopping the riba I was back up to 12.2 HGB (normal). also my HCT that was 31.7 in March is back to 39.0 (normal) and RBC was 3.09 is now 3.73 (just .04 below normal)

My MCV is a bit elevated still at 105 it was 93 before riba was added and my pre riba HBG was 13.7

My nurse said oh your HGB looks really good! I said I started taking vitamins (so bad patient)

So anyway just 10 days off riba and almost back to pre riba levels

Hope that helps

Listen to your body....If you feel it's overwhelming then a reduction is in order.
The drugs remain in your system for an additional 6 months post Tx, so a reduction should be OK.  Don't let guilt or remorse fuel your decision.  It's your body and your life and no one is more familiar with it then you.  Set your own boundaries and respect what your mind and body need to move forward.

Hii!  Yes, mine went down but not to amenia levels until 5th week.  Bythe 7th week I think it was the 7th)  it came back from 8.8 to 9.0 and by the 12th to 9.6.  Stayed 9.5 or 6 then until EOT because I talked my Dr out of reducing Riba or Procrit.  Of course, I am retired and could stay in bed or 'in chair' ifyou know what I mean, and sleep, doze, watch TV, go come on the Forum and do it all over again.  Since you are just now at 10.5, you may very well stablize around there or come back up a little.   I hope so at any rate.  And yes, that is definitely why you are feeling so (please excuse the term) c****y.

Aren't you still working?   If you feel comfortable w/a 200 mg reduction in your Riba, tell that to the Dr.

Blessings whichever way you go.

Thanks Darlin

Yeah, yours were the labs that really piqued my interest since your HMG went down so fast!

I just sent a message to my doc. They told me at the outset that they get "concerned" when it hits 10 and another hepper post (Pat?) said that 9 knocked her for a loop

I would not complain One Bit if they reduced the Riba, even just 200 mg

We'll see what the doc says.

The kid wants to know, but they'll come back, right? So, I am very interested in all your lab results - not just the ones that the media is parading around. I seem to remember that at the EOT, HMG levels start to pick up straight away, albeit slowly

Must be a boost of energy from just not having to take the heavy weight drugs every day but I guess you won't know till tomorrow, eh?

I dose reduced when I hit 9.3 I was 3 weeks into treatment with Ribavirin from 1200 to 1000 mg. I stabilized at 10.0 for several weeks so we stopped testing after that. So I hadent tested anything since March 7th until today EOT.

Yup that would definitely explain why you feel like something the cat dragged in.

May the 4th be with you!
