Lots of unanswered questions

Hi, I was just recently diagnosed with Hepatits after exhibiting sympoms such as yellow jondis.  the doctor didn't tell me what strand I have nor did he bother to answer any questions or address any concerns that I may have had.  How long does it take before you start to get sick?  What is going to happen when I go to see the GI specialist?  what kind of future am I looking at?  How did I get it?  How can I keep from making any one else sick?  Lot of questions and as of yet no really clear answers.  I have looked all over the internet and still have questions.  I thought maybe some one here could help.  thanks.

Hi, many of us were where you are now...everyone is different in the way this disease plays out...If I were you, and this is what I did when I was first diagnosed, is go to

http://janis7hepc.com/Symptoms.htm

there are reams and reams of information there, to answer most of your questions...and you can just start reading here, you could go to the archives and punch in topics of interest, and read the entire thread...but of course, first order of business is to find out exactly where you are at...ignorance is the real killer here, I've seen over and over people who are convinced they have this and are going to die shortly (this rarely, rarely happens) only to find out later when they are completely tested out, that they just have hep A and it goes away for good after treatment, or they don't even have this, just some other minor disease...find out what you can on your own, an educated patient is almost always better off...

and get to a GI or hepatologist and get tested out, docs of other specialties don't always know anything about this disease, but they have such huge egos they don't want to admit, and tell patients misinformation, seen that a million times...

try not to jump to conclusions till all your answers are in...(I know, hard thing to do) and if you do read some horror stories, try not to project them on to yourself, that might be this person's journey, BUT NOT YOURS...please know that if you do have hep c, the vast majority of people who have it do not die from it....you have options, there are many people who have this who have taken care of it, and they are off onto their lives, disease free...so never give up hope and try to stay calm and do some fact finding on your own, first and foremost, best of luck...
