My ship has come in

Pharmacist phoned me yesterday saying he's go a script to fill for Harvoni.
Gave me phone number of Gilead to get coupon and reduce copy from $150 to $5.
15 minutes later I phoned pharmacy back and they said to pick it up Thursday. Tomorrow.
Harvoni, 8 week regime. No need to stop any of my weight lifting supplements. Eat with a meal they say.
Rainbow is out, birdies are singing, babies are laughing.
8 years I've waited, educating myself here on MedHelp.
I guess they don't even test blood for a month.

Half way there.  Won't be long now!

re the Assistance conversation, of all people, you would think people on Medicare or Medicapid would qualify!  The sooner someone is cured, the less the government would have to pay.  But then, in recent years, no one said it had to make sense.

Blessings,

Pat

I found the information if you are interested.  It is a bad situation for people on Medicare or Medicaid, depending on what state you live in.
From another persons story I heard that Oregon was one of the worst
It is getting better, 25 states have made an agreement with one of the drug companies and gotten a lower price.  Other states require the person to have cirrhosis. If a person has Medicare of Medicaid, the drug companies can't help with co pays.   That was why they asked you those questions.  It doesn't seem fair to me.

I hope that as time goes on it will improve. Maybe once the states realize they can pay now or pay a lot more later they will change things.

Hey there, really happy for you.
Yes if you look into it the help is not for people on Medicare which I think is awful.  There are some states where they are working to correct this
I looked it up several months ago

Again, congratulations!!!

You know, when they were asking me information for the coupon they had me state for record that I was not using state or federal sponsored insurance like Medicaire, Oregon Health Plan, and so on.

Not sure why that is. I'm thinking there are some politics there.

Thanks everyone.
I bought 2 honey oat bran at New Seasons and a bottle of water and sat outside the pharmacy on a bench and took my first pill.

I guess all I pay is $5 copay and they didn't even charge me that when I picked up the bottle. "We're primarily a mail delivery pharmacy." , said the Pharmacist, "But with this stuff, we would be glad that you picked it up!". So I jumped into my armored car and went down there.

My understanding through some government HCV friends is that a provider can use a crappy fibroses test and it will measure one notch higher than the expensive ones. . . . reason being is that several insurance companies only approves for level 3 & 4 fibrosis.
