I understand it is common for SSI to deny benefits the first time one applies. Be persistent. Don't give up. The good thing is once they do approve you, you will receive retroactive payments.

If you can't find a trial, you may still be able to do treatment for HCV.
You should phone area hospitals and Universities to find a good heptologist ( liver doctor), in case you don't already have one
Ask if they provide charity care. Then find out from the financial adviser what is covered.

Good luck.

Since you have a low income, you can get your meds for free from either Roche or Schering-Plough the makers of interferon .

Todd; these are some sites that detail clinical trials. There is a lot of info to analyze prior to signing up for one of these; a good doctor is invaluable for this task. You can glance through these to get an idea if you like:

Again, best of luck to you—

Hey Todd;

If you’re in a hurry, a clinical trial might be something to consider. Do you have access to a GI doc, or a hepatologist for a consult?

If not, tell us more about yourself,, and possibly the folks here can help. Do you know your genotype? Have you ever tried treatment before? Have you had a biopsy yet?

These are some of the pertinent questions; welcome to the discussion group—
