Only your doctor can proscribe treatment or have you wait. You could see  another doctor if not satisfied . If treatment is offered it's your decision to tx or not.  At this time insurance companies may not cover the expensive drugs Sovaldi (sofosbuvir) or Olysio(simeprevir) unless your condition warrants treatment soon and is not medically contraindicated.  You and your doctor may have to appeal denials.

Try to become as educated as possible about your HCV diagnosis, stage &, grade from biopsies and/or indirect markers, other medical conditions, ,. blood test results, symptoms if present and treatment options. This will help you and your doctor to hopefully make the best decision for you. Practice healthy habits like sleep, hydration, good foods etc.

IV. Genotype 4
Few data are available to help guide decision-making in patients infected with HCV genotype 4. Nonetheless, for those patients for whom immediate treatment is required, the following recommendations have been drawn from available data.

Be sure to look at the red box for regimens are NOT recommended for treatment

Always recheck the website for updated guidelines before any consultation with your doctor and when making a decision to be treated.  Ask questions especially if being offered drug combination NOT recommended for treatment

A static version of this guidance, such as printout of this website material, booklet, slides, and other materials, may be outdated by the time you read this. We urge you to review this guidance on this website (www.hcvguidelines.org) for the latest recommendations.

Wish you success getting treated and achieving SVR

Hey Buba, You are in luck! I am genotype 4. Have had it for probably 33+ years. I am half way (tomorrow) through a 12 week treatment with Sovaldi, Pegasus, and Ribavirin. We have the highest cure rate with this triple treatment—96%! Hopefully you have insurance and can get the drugs, they are not too bad. You can visit the Sovaldi website. There may be other treatments on the horizon if you can wait for it. I chose not to wait. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
