Post tx arthritis acting up

I have been off treatment for almost 3 weeks now.  My arthritis that existed before treatment, is going crazy.  I don't know if it is because my activity level has increased after being dormant or some side effect of getting off all the drugs. I is a real problem right now.  Mary Ellen

Dunno, all I do know is that I felt the worst pain after tx...well I had lots of sx during tx too!  Post tx sides continued for a year. I have now been dxed with fibromyalgia.  I sure would love to get off the Lyrica, I am now on, and not feel so fatigued. I didn't clear the virus, this could be part of the problem, for sure!

Until you go many months and still have a problem, I would rack this up to post tx sx's temporarily. You most likely will be fine in a month or so. If the problems continue after a year, then I would begin to worry and check things out. Too many times people off tx think everything is due to tx. I don't think it is so.  Sometimes things are due to tx, but let's distinquish between long term and short term problems after tx. I believe that because SOC doesn't allow for tapering off tx, many of us go through painful withdrawals from the interferon and Riba. Allowing for these withdrawals with tapering off will help our own interferon levels take over when the injections are not forthcoming. I certainly felt the effects of this, as I stopped abrubtly.  Let it be for awhile and see if it continues. If it does, check it out with specialists.

I know i have posted this somewhere before, but i found post tx to be the most painful time of my life.  About a month after completing tx, every joint in my body hurt, it was worse than pre-tx which was pretty bad.  Good news though, it went away after a couple months, and iam still svr, so it wasnt the virus coming back. Probably should have been weaned off meds, tx'd 96wks. My hep who has been researching  hep c for many yrs. just looked at me and had no answers.  Iam pain free now.  Good Luck.....Leah

Congratulations!  You made it thru tx....hopefully you are UND!  I can relate to your arthritis pain....although I'm still on tx ~ 10/24 wks. I have had arthritis for some time now.  After starting tx it made the pain so much more intense.  Do you take anything for the arthritis?  It could be due to the increased activity and the fact that your body is getting used to life w/o tx.  Ssorry I don't have any better advise or info for you! I hope you feel better real soon!

best wishes....Darla
