assholism.............I have one of those ;-}
I take zoloft in the am and seroquil in the pm. seroquil is a newly annd med
The anti depresents are due to the side effects of the treatment. Depression, mood swings, suicidal thought, desire to hurt others, rage.
These meds are no joke. Go to chemocare.com and look up Interferon, and look up Ribavirin at the Mayo Clinic site. Good info about the meds.
The meds don't make me depressed, they are to deal with "riba rage". I have zero depression I love life, and I no longer take it for granted.
Hepa means liver titis means inflammation. All viral hepatitis is different virologically speaking. Hep C is closer to yellow fever than Hep b,or a. The confusion lies in the word hepatitis this is why everyone lumps them together. Just one of the many things I've learned about a disease I knew nothing about eight months ago.
"So I just want to see a doctor that specializes in this disease "
Yes...that is very important,as most of the GP"s out there are not at all familiar with aspects of HEPC
good luck

Thank you I was just wondering about the psych meds so it is the treatment i been reading alot these last few days I really expected the dr to give me more info but I guess it will all come in due time I am going to go in Monday and have her refer me to a specialist Because the general Doctor don't seem too educated on the subject I'm getting mixed answers some say 46,000 isnt too bad others say viral count means nothing and I could have severe liver damage So I just want to see a doctor that specializes in this disease
Hi again—
I see you just got a viral load result back. The load of 46,000 (assuming that is measured in IU/mL) is considered low; the current cut off for low viral load is now considered <400,000.
Did you also receive a genotype result? This is actually more important than the viral load in terms of disease management.
The disease itself doesn’t necessarily cause depression, but the treatment drugs can alter the chemicals in our brains; they can prevent ‘serotonin’ from entering, and some people can become depressed during therapy. Antidepressants are often prescribed to counter this during the treatment regimen.
The ‘little irritation’ of the liver the nurse/doctor mentioned is likely your liver enzymes; don’t worry too much about that at this point.
You’ll definitely want to take a referral to a specialist, now that you have a viral load; this means you have active hepatitis c now.
It’s unlikely you’ll die from this; we're told only 5% of HCV patients eventually succumb to this disease. You will eventually want to manage it though; you’re GI doc or hepatologist will counsel you as to your options.
Good luck and let me know if I can somehow help—

I would advise you to read through this great site. It has valuable detailed information about hep c, management and treatment. It is my favorite site for newly diagnosed.

By a little irritation I'm sure your doctor meant your liver enzymes are elevated. This is very common with hepc. The additional test will be to determine what genotype you have. The most common genotypes in the US are geno's 1, 2 and 3 with genotype 1 being the most prevelant.
Hepc doesn't make people crazy but they might go crazy if they dwell on it. Some people take antidepressents while undergoing antiviral therapy because the drugs can cause depression while others do not experience depression at all.
My advice is to seek out a specialist, either a gastroenterologist who has treated many with hepc or a hepatologist. Once your genotype has been established you will probably be advised to have a liver biopsy to determine how much, if any damage has occured to your liver. Liver diagnosis will help you formulate a plan about treatment options that will best suit you.
Try to educate yourself about hepc. We all are a bit freaked out when we first find out but after you educate yourself you'll realize there are options and also many others out there in the same boat you are. Here a few good websites on the internet that will provide the basic information you need so you can move forward.

I see from your profile that many of the same concerns you have in this post you asked in some of your last posts a few days ago.I would suggest to go back over those answers and and review.
You need to see a specialist(a hepatologist) to do a biopsy to determine the amt.of damage to your liver. That is the only method to determine this. As far as psych.drugs some people on tx.find these help with feelings of depression. Not all people however need these.
As far as your husbands disease of assholism....hmmm not sure what the current tx. is t right now being used for that.
Hope some of that helps.
