Sensitive Skin

Hi,
I'm new here...just started treatment 5 days ago (it already feels like forever).  I have many symptoms, but the latest and greatest is my skin is so sensitive!!  I have a rash on my torso, but it's not so much itchy as incredibly sensitive.  Trying to dress for work everyday is awful, does anyone have any good tips on managing this??
Is everyone else working through their treatment?
Greta

don't take hot showers..wash your cloths in water ..no dryer sheets...do cbcs every week...keep an eye on your blood work ...talk with your doctor about when he/she will bring in rescue drugs if needed...i'll bet when you lay down ,especially at night...you itch more and your skin can feel like its sunburned...a common symptom is a feeling of having laid down in fiberglass...no matter what i did i couldn't get rid of the itching and rashes...hang in there ...the incivek works great! good luck...billy

Here's the cream that helped me most:  CeraVe

It's a barrier emollient cream, often used with cancer patients, and it was the only thing that would moisturize my skin when this side was at it's worst.

I have a little rash areas started to develop last week (on week 10 now). I stopped taking hot showers and began to use moisturizing lotion(I use Aveeno Oat essence one) more often--it took care of the rash. As many knowledgeable members have already suggested, don't let it get out of the control. Best of luck with the treatment--you will be just fine.
And yes, many of us continue to work full time while on treatment (I'm one of those).

My guess is alcohol with dry the skin even further.  I have no experience with this, but doesn't sound wise.  Calamine lotion does help.  I tried several things before I found what worked best for me.  My bathroom cabinet is full with different lotions.

My husband just bought me anti itch spray, but it has alcohol in it to dry out poison ivy.  Is that ok to use or should I stay away from that kind?

Make sure you let your doctor know you are having the rash side effect, don't let it get out of control...it can sometimes get very bad, not always, but sometimes so keep an eye out on it

Keep a close watch on this before it get out of hand.  Rashes can be major game changers so better to get this under control before you start losing sleep and it covers a large portion of your body.  You can search for the remedies, but be sure to avoid hot showers/baths, apply lotion often, type hydrocortisone creams to calm the bad areas, maybe antihistamines if the doctors approves.  This is a very common side effect.  Oh, and drink lots of water.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with trt.  Visit and post often.

Make sure you drink half your body weight a day in water (ie: 120 pounds = 60 ounces of water) and make sure you lotion yourself up day and night with something nice and thick that will cover your skin (it: Gold Bond) dont use it once a day nor stop when the rash subsides or it will come screaming back.  It was the only thing that helped me, I put bandaids on where my clothes really rubbed my skin...that was a good temporary help.
