Serious Question

My blood pressure is getting out of control latley, since i stopped TX it was fluctuating at first ,but now its seems higher that normal 140/90.My doc says i may have to go on BP meds if  after i drop 20 lbs and its still high.Anyone else on the Boceprevir drugs have this problem.I suspect its the BOC because with my first TX with SOC it didnt do this, just hope i dont have to take BP meds for the rest of my days.Im getting a wee bit concerned here as i dont want a cardiac arrest.

I'm not a Dr. Your bp is a little high Avg 120/80, Treatment does make any problem you have get worse. If you are overweight you should try to lose> I had a few problems that came up during treatment, I couldn't believe. I stated drinking the 64 oz of h20 a day, read a book called Sugar Buster and started walking. It was hard because I felt bad. It all worked. I'm not on any meds now and I'm SVR. I lost 26lbs and my Gloucose went down, so did heart rate. Good Luck

I've found that I don't get the same bang for my buck out of physical activity post-treatment that I used to.  You might have to increase those occasional 5 mile bike rides.  5 miles on occasion isn't that much so you might want to extend that, particularly post-tx.  Your body takes a hit on tx even if you don't notice it as much.  I think you might be seeing that now with your higher blood pressure.  Give yourself some cardio fitness and you might see that coming down.

Rocker, do you exercise?  Some good aerobic exercise should help you out as well.  I agree with you that if you can avoid the bp drugs, so much the better.

I'm 20wks into Bocep tx, bp is consistently 90/60, unless I have just done Procrit. My bp is typically low anyway, tx or no tx, but not quite as low as 90/60.

Bocep did not raise my BP, but I believe it has caused a few other SX to hang on.  Anything's possible with a new drug.

i was on them for about a year then stopped after I lost some weight and my BP was actually to low.  It was borderline throughout tx and about the same as before I started. Since stopping TX I put on some weight and BP is back up to about the same as yours. I also heard that once your body gets use to the BP meds you need them the rest of your life. I'm hoping to avoid them but all my primary doc always wants to do is write prescriptions. Sometimes I think the pharm reps have him brainwashed. I will try losing the weight to see if that works before giving in. I'm only about 20 lbs overweight but that is enough to cause metabolic changes, i.e. BP, diabetes, cholesterol.

My family is not too bad with BP,just my Mother ,but she 70 .I think it may be a bit of both,TX and the extra weight.i heard once you go on the BP meds you stuck on them for life>is this fact?

does anyone else in your immediate family have high BP? this is very much hereditary.

Last time you were posting you were taking a supplement/herb that you said was working wonders to lower your BP. What happen with that? When you posted then I just smiled because I knew I had tried everything possible and NONE worked. Ended up having to go on the rx meds as much I didn't want to.

Since your #'s are not that bad I bet losing the weight will bring you back into the normal range on a consistant basis.
