Sores in corners of mouth

Hi,

I treated with Int/Rib in early 2006 and , although the tx wasn't successful, I did acquire these annoying sores in the corners of my mouth. They aren't really sores I guess but what happens with them is if I open my mouth wide (not that wide either) Id feel the skin in the corners of my mouth tearing very slightly. The that are would become sore (almost like a cold sore) It happens more on one side than the other.

I asked about this in this forum at that time (others said they had the same type of thing) and was told the sores would go away in time (I only treated for 12 weeks so I was told the sores would disappear after I stopped Tx).

It's 3 + years later and they're still there (not as bad but they flare up) ...anyone else have these ?

Thanks

yes iv got these red patchy sores, more like grazes or burn, not sores as such.iv also had sore gums,my gums bleed when i brush them.it started when tx started and i put it down to dry mouth....cos im constantly thirsty. Also it might be tht when we r on the tx we can get infections more easier, cos of our low WBC and other factors.my doc told me tht we all carry certain bacterias in our mouth and normally our own immune system can kick it in the butt and keep it under control, but on tx it can get worse so i eat yogurt cos it has the gd bacteria in it to fight bad bacterias, like thrush etc.
i havnt tried many other things iv just put up with it cos i just gathered it wil go away as soon as i finish tx,hope it will anyways.
im sorry to hear u still have these mouth probs still, even yrs after tx and very very sorry your tx was unsuccessful.good luck with everything.

I did similar to Isobella...but I used Monistat and I took a Q-tip with a very, very small amount and put it on the sore corners of my mouth just before I went to bed.  During the daytime, I would use A&D ointment to keep it moist until it went away.

Omgosh....I just posted this same thing on another thread.  I used Vagisil on my lip corners when they got those sores.

Sounds gross, but worked really well for me.

Good luck.

I am in my 16th wk tx. Yes I also have that. The 1st time it felt like it was burned. My dentist said it a type of yeast infection caused by dry mouth. He told me to use antifungial, like monistat cream. Sounds gross but it does help alot. I just rub it the corners of my mouth

God Luck
