It was after I read this article that I considered waiting. My liver function test all good. so my Hepatoloist agreed. I hope you find it as encourgaging as I did, Laura
PS this youtube video very interesting [current and future treatment of chronic hepatitis].
ALOT of good info, Laura

You should be aware that proposed treatment with Telaprevir or Bocepravir still include the SOC TX of interferon and Ribavirin. If you are a genotype 2, your treatment with SOC should be only 24 weeks and result in very good odds in SVR. I am not sure whether or not there is an avantage, or a good rationale, for a genotype 2 patient to wait for approval of Telaprevir or Bocepravir.
??? anyone else on this??
I finished the latest boceprevir trial, my hepatologist who is also the lead Investigator didn't seem to think geno 2's for the time being would be treated with these new drugs I also think it would be very hard to get any insurance to cover the added expense.. Best to you.

I was told by my hepatologist it would be a 16 week TX including interferon and ribavirin instead of the 24, nothing was dicussed re ins not paying. For me it is worth the wait 16 sounds a hell of alot better than 24 and I know 24 sounds good to some...how was the trial? I had thought of searching for one in my area. Thanks for yr info. and same to u Walrus...
I can't get the link you posted to work and can't find the article on hivandhepatitis website. Could you cut and paste or link some other way please.

copy this whole address and it should work for you I just tried it. .Good luck
Laura
Well, thanx for trying. When I try the link as posted I still get a broken link. When I remove the . from the end, I do get a posting from the 2008 EASL, but only stuff about about VX950 and geno 1 - nothing about shortened geno 2 tx. I'll keep trying when I get home from work.
No one knows with any certainty when STAT-C drugs will be approved, or even *if* they’re approved, whether insurance will adopt them. The best guesstimate right now is sometime in 2011, based on spin from Vertex’s press releases and other sources.
Where have you heard of reduced treatment duration for genotype 2 HCV?
