"yes, I really think it will help those using the PI a lot, just because they are making a HUGE deal of the every 8 hrs on the DOT stuff."
Great information and a great idea for one of these big Pharma companies to include for their clinical trials. Just a thought, you never know who's reading these posts. BTW, I thought you were all done with tx, how many times have you gone thru tx?
My Mother had MAC and couldn't see well she had a watch that told what time it was and when to take meds. Drove me nuts but worked for her. We should suggest to droid that the next droid have the EMT mechanism.
Hi this sounds pretty good, I had purchased an alarmed pill box but the vertex nurse told me to keep pill in packages until I used them so they would be fresh
Do you mind if I ask what you are going on? You mentioned injection every day
Thanks Dee
i've been using an ap that works on iphone, ipod and ipad called "alarmed - reminders, timers, alarm" it is very easy to set and sure takes the stress out of missing the telaprevir time and costs $1.99. i am storing my pills in a box i got from amazon called Apex Medi Tray, 4 Times Per Day, 7 Days Per Week. it was about 9 dollars.
eric
That sounds like a great device, alarms you and the meds are stored with in it, and the price is cheap. A good pill box cost a few bucks alone, so have the alarms that come along with it is a nice perk for only $10.
Some apps fpr smart phones can be used to store your emergency contact list, medical info, like all meds, diagnosis, allergies, immunizations, hospitalizations and detailed physician info. They also allow you to identify your emergency contact as your "wallpaper", so if you go past the wallpaper page and into the app it shows all the other info I already mentioned. This is just one of many apps that are available, some are free, some $1 and goes up to $5.
Came across some other good tracking and graphing apps , Health Manager is for tracking and organizing your daily health, like records symptoms and allows you to record and then graph all your lab tests and lab results, reminds you when meds will need refilling, etc., I would find this app helpful if I were on tx.
Another one that allows you to enter in all your meds, set up reminders and track when you have to take them. The prescription quantities can count down as you take your meds, to help you track when it's time to refill.
The watch is probably still a good idea for someone who may not have a smart phone, or if someone is at risk for being unconcious, and needs urgent medical attention, such as a diabetic, or with a history of seizures, etc.
Thanks for posting this! Years ago, my Uncle had severe chest pains and we thought he was having a heart attack. When the paramedics came, he had all his info in his watch. And since it was on him all the time, he didn't have to remember to carry it with him, it was a no brainer.
there is a cheaper alternative made by epill for the really simple reminders. It only costs around ten dollars, and is SUPER EASY to set.
you don't have to program things in, you just have a whole row of switches, and you set them in the on or off position.
they have switches for the half hour and the hour.
so all you do is flip the switches up, and an alarm will sound at those times.
example, flip up 8, 12, 4 and 8....takes 2 seconds to set those times, just flip the switches, You can store the pills below in the device.
this is a good alternative for those without cell phones, or who have trouble setting digital alarms, as its just flip flip flip flip...and you are done.
Changing times is equally easy, just flip those switches off, and flip up the new times you want a ring.
I have used this one for years, and it's super easy.

you can get it with a pill box on the bottom for 10 bucks more, and it comes in black or white.
the only reason this one is worth recommending is its ease of use.
especially good when I woke up late, I could reset the whole day in seconds, and no other type system can do that.
Most muti alarms, especially on watches are a hassle to set and reset. This on is a breeze.

If anyone else knows of any good devices, let's share the info.
can-do, sounds like my world, except my payments haven't stopped. ;)
Hmmmm, smart phone, droid, watches, nope don't need all that stuff. I got something "better"? its called a wife. She drives be crazy, nags me for free, and i have already paid for it........ When i'm at work the office women picks right up where she left off.........:)
yes, I really think it will help those using the PI a lot, just because they are making a HUGE deal of the every 8 hrs on the DOT stuff.
But I also like the other feature which a smart phone or droid won't accomplish.
The alert will tell an EMT all your conditions even if you are unconscious...what phone will give them all that info???
maybe there is an app like that I don't know about,
but the phone data would have to be assessable...
this watch lets them scroll through all your medical information in a moment. It's basically a mini data base for your basic health record.
If there's a phone app that will do this...if you are found unconscious, let the rest of us know!!!
PS.....the other good thing about this watch is it is just for medical alert etc...so some insurances will pick up the cost with your docs help. Can't get them to pay for a phone now can we?
: )
sounds cool...thanks....billy
Did I hear DROID? The noises that thing makes use to scare me when I first got it, it was a gift. Luv it now that I got use to all it's capabilities and all the apps, wow!
Yep, my smart phone makes me feel dumb. Amazing what you can do with them. You could program a number of reminders a day, to repeat every day, each with their own tone. If I was doing a PI, this would be the perfect.
That sounds cool, my droid does the same thing I have alarms going off all the time, I have a rooster that crows people just look at me and laugh...lol
INCI and Infergen....????
"However, as I was pretty sick and slept a lot last time on chemo last time"
Triple therapy (Incivek) with Infergen will give a whole new meaning to "pretty sick" on it will be this time. Don't think a 12 alarm watch will help much with that but good luck.
Better keep a very keen eye on those blood values, you will tank fast.
