Treatment

I don't remember there being a name for the trial-Bill, but they said I would have to take Interferon and, Ribvirin...
And, I can't seem to remember the name of the trial drug-but I think it started with an "R" too..

Search clinicaltrials.gov.  If you can't remember the names of the drugs or the sponsors (drug company) you can search geopraphically for the city where the trial is to be held.  A lot of forum posters have had good experiences with trials.  They generally include the standard of care (SOC), peg/riba, as a placebo and several arms adding the experimental drug.

If you've decided to treat the disease anyway, you would still be getting SOC even if you ended up in the placebo arm.  Some trials even let you add the trial drug later in the trial if you end up in the placebo arm and don't clear the virus on SOC.  Strikes me as a win/win.  All of the details are in the informed consent that you sign when they start screening you for acceptance into the trial.

I'm amazed at all the trials opening this fall and know there are more that have not gone up on clinicaltrials.gov yet.  I was in one that is still ongoing.  I got good care, almost no cost at all, treated for a shorter time period than the normal 48 weeks.  Nearly memorized the Informed Consent form.  A good experience.

There are literally hundreds of different clinical trials for HCV right now… you’ll need to be more specific regarding the trial drug. Go back to whoever referred you to it, and ask them the name, or better yet, the NCT number and someone in here might be able to help. You can search the clinical trial database by going to:

http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/search

best to you—
