I am on week 18 of tx for Hep C and am still in the process of getting the A and B vaccinations.  I got the last B yesterday and will get the last A in February.  It has not made any difference that I am currently treating and . other than a sore arm, there are no side effects.

I had A and B vacine done right away too. I was told they could be deadly with C. That's all I needed to hear!

Ofcourse it's possible that's why you get a Hep B,and A vaccines.  They are completly different viruses.  Hep C is closer to yellow fever than it is Hep B.  Educate yourself find out what the word hepatitis means.

"Treatment" for hepatitis b is different from "vaccination."  Getting the vaccine for hep b is to prevent you from getting hbv... there is actual "treatment" for hep b, but that would only apply if you were infected and chronic.

As others have said, folks with chronic hcv should be vaccinated against hbv to prevent co-infection (exponentially bad).

Yes, I think it is standard once diagnosed with Hep C to be vaccinated against Hep B.  It is also beneficial to be tested for HIV.

The vaccine is so that you will be protected against getting Hep B.  Things get much more complicated if you have hep B along with your Hep C.  My doc made me do the same thing.
