Understanding Pegasus hep-c med
I have Hep c and will soon start pegasus after they find out what strand of hep c I have.What is the average weight loss when taking this med?Plus hair loss,there will be another med with it but I cant remember name (r) something.

the meds are Interferon and Ribavarin.But they have just released a few new drugs that up your chances of clearing if your a Geno 1.If you are a geno 1 you might want to ask your dr about these drugs.They can shorten you treatment time.Are you using a regular dr?Most regular drs are not up to speed so you might want to get an appointment with a gastro dr or better yet-a hepatologist.A hepatologist is your best bet.Good Luck and welcome to the forum-cindy
Have the PI'S even been approved for use in the UK yet. I have looked and don't see anything saying they have, all I can find is that is under consideration by the european version of the FDA
Victrellis doesn't necessarily require the 20 gr. of fat (another make of the new drug), but should be eaten w/snack or meal to allow more bioavailabilty of the drug.
If you start on triple therapy you have to eat 20 grams of fat with each dose, so far I'm on my sixth shot and gained two pounds. I had some light hair loss last time but that was after almost two years, so far none. Good luck. Joe
