I am finishing up week 5 and I have lost 4lbs of my 10 lbs I gained in the first 3 1/2 weeks by the following:
dosing schedule:
7 am riba and incivek
3pm incivek
11pm incivek
Eating smaller meal @ lunch because I know I have to take 20 grams of fat @ 3pm
Eating smaller meal @ 5pm because I have to eat @ 7pm for riba
Eating smaller meal @ 7pm w/ riba
I started eating these smaller meals and it has worked out well so far.
Also I am trying to get my fat from healthy choices.
If I wait until only my dosing times to eat, I am so hungry I dont make good food choices and overeat.
I am still going to the gym 1-2 x a week for light to moderate workouts.
I personally have not been adding extra fat @ my 7pm dose of riba.
My doctor said I dont need to take it with fat, just take it with a meal.
I do not need the extra riba absorption, I am getting it just fine is what he said.
Just my experience.
In the long run even if I gain some weight, but lose the virus- I can always lose the weight-
But lets go easy on ourselves- how important is the weight gain, really :)
"in my OPINION once the Incivek is stopped you will more than likely see your weight decrease."
Most people tend to loose weight on pegylated interferon and ribavirin. Even though you need a little more fat in your diet to help with ribavirin absorption, the medications usually decrease the appetite and patients consume smaller portions of food. Eliminating 60 grams of fat daily from your daily diet will definitely help stop the weight gain and in my option once the Incevik is stopped you will more than likely see your weight decrease.
If at all possible try not to be to sedentary. Daily walks or mild to moderate exercise several times a week will help burn the calories.
