Well I'm SVR!

Didn't want to post a thread of my own, but I couldn't find the "poll thread." (if someone wants to start one). Took 3 months of Sovaldi Olysio. Went undetected in my 6th week, not 4 but in my second week my Liver Function Tests went down to 15, 10 (from averaging in the 60s) so I knew it was doing something! ;-)

I'm a 1b, had this dragon for at least 30 years, perhaps more. I'm now 61. Have only been symptomatic of Hep C for about 8 years now, and I couldn't stand it. Joint aches, water retention, liver area pain, this small cloud of depression, kind of spacey (doc said that can happen from toxins and water retention) fatigue to beat the band, many auto-immune type symptoms ---for the most part gone now, YaY!!! ( And I realize many people do not have symptoms with Hep C, I was just not one of them.)

A year or so ago I had a liver biopsy and it said I was F1. Also had a fibroscan done about 7 years ago with HR and that said I was F1 so I was very lucky that I didn't advance in terms of liver damage. I've been a very healthy eater for many, many years; don't drink or smoke, take drugs, etc. Exercise, etc, though I realize there are some who are very healthy in their habits and still advance in liver damage with this horrible disease.

Was told that I was SVR a few weeks ago. This is just my own opinion and very unscientific, but I thought I was SVR a while back because many of the Hep C symptoms I had cleared up. I "felt" cured (but that's just me and my own body, I've seen other members not report this and they still achieved SVR'd) I also think that the fact that I was weight proportionate (perhaps, course I'm no expert and I certainly don't know for sure?) did me some good.

I'm 5'6 and weigh 130.

I really want to thank everyone on this board because I really think coming here has been helpful to me in many ways. I just figure docs really don't want to go on about symptoms (there's not a lot they can do about symptoms and side effects) they can help but I've found they can't eradicate, it's about eradicating the underlying disease. So reading other people here helped me when I thought I was the "only" one and I wasn't. I also think docs give you this stuff so perhaps they feel a bit guilty that a patient is experiencing things beyond their control...at any rate, I don't get a lot of feedback from them in terms of symptoms and side-effects, that's why this board has been so helpful to me. A few times I felt like I was going out of my mind a bit (just a bit) and coming here calmed me down. I really wish this SVR to everyone and I'm still getting adjusted to the fact that I no longer have Hep C. The doc at Cedar's Sinai told me that she wants to test me in 6 months but she's had NO ONE relapse so I'm more or less free of that place. She also told me that she's getting very good results with Sovaldi and I think that's great (even though I personally think the company is gauging, but that's another story) The best to all of you!!!!

That's awesome news!
Was kinda waiting to hear from you  since figured your SVR12 was approaching.  Never once did I doubt you were cured, side effects and
all.
You pulled it off and now have a new life ahead without the worry of
liver disease.  I'm so very happy as sometimes post Tx can be somewhat
scary as the fear of a return is always looming.
Hope you'll stick around to offer support to others post Tx as we both
experienced some puzzling after effects which are hard to explain unless
you've gone thru it.  Have always felt that you brought alot to the table and
have been an asset to this community.
Will say that everyday living without this virus gets better and better. I wish
you Congragulations for a healthy new beginning.
Cheers!
....Kim

I am thrilled for you! Congratulations! You absolutely deserve your own thread!!!!!

Genetics may also play a role (one of many variables) in why some folks develop more or less liver damaging effects from hep c. They have learned alot, but still don't know alot. As for treatment effectiveness, they have identified some variables  (viral genotype, host characteristics) that have better and worse treatment outcomes, but they are still not sure why...  Its rather fascinating... I hope more answers are forthcoming... Enjoy your Hep C free life. Jo

Oh no, I've heard of other overweight people SVRing...I just think it's a good measure, that's all. But what do I know? ;-) I bet you SVR to, Rubye....Hey sometimes I told myself all those sides I was getting (and yeah, I got depression, and it's gone!) meant the s&&t was working! ;-) Hang in there, it's nice to be on this side of the fence. I've had hep c for so long, I'm still getting used to not having it. Think I've had it longer than I didn't have it! But that creepo is gone, gone gone!!! Isn't it great to see those normal labs? Best to you and all of you!

This is so nice and I am very grateful you posted here because I would have never noticed in the thread. Sometimes it seems all I see anymore is relapses and that can be discouraging, so it is reassuring when I see a post like yours. Congratulations!

I also have side effects with S/O - fatigue and nausea get pretty bad sometimes and I think I am also depressed. I hope the weight proportional thing is not true because I am way overweight. :)

Anyway, I just got my 4 week labs back and I am undetected or <12. My printout was confusing because it read "undetected - undetected" and then in the next column said "weak positive". I'd ask the doctor but she never responds and I actually had my pcp order my labs. Also, the other labs are all excellent. Everything is normal. Kind of strange to see but I'm happy.

I'm very happy for you and will be joining you soon on that thread with a big SVR12.
