OK so ammonia is a problem if you have very advanced liver disease called cirrhosis which takes decades to develop. Unless you have very advanced liver disease you should not have a problem with ammonia caused by the liver shutting down. Ammonia is not caused by the medicine.
If he is talking about interferon it is not administered intravenously (IV). It is not a shot in your vein. Interferon is given sub cutaneous just under the skin.
The new medicines are pills with names like Harvoni, Viekira Pak, Epclusa or Declatasvir. Which one is correct for you is determined by which genotype of hep c you have. You will need a blood test to find out your genotype.
No one should be being prescribed interferon in the US for hep c anymore. Your doctor is way behind in th enews. Harvoni was approved in Oct 2014 by the FDA. I was not cured by the old interferon shots which only worked about 30% of the time. I was cured by Harvoni I finished my treatment in May 2015
It does look like you had the HCV RNA by PCR test and have a viral load of 978,812 or as expressed on a different mathematical scale called the logarithmic scale a viral load of 5.99 which is the same number just on the log scale. So that would indicate you are infected but you have a very low viral load.
Thank you! Still so confused though, thank all of y'all so much for being there for me.I would have went crazy by now if it wasn't for the site. I feel like I cannot say thank you enough.
Hi there, I am sorry to hear you have been diagnosed this way
I also was tested for and got my positive results from a doctor who did not really know much about HCV so I had to go to a specialist. I was lucky, my first test triggered the second one so I knew at once. Viral load was 7M.
The good thing, if there is one is that they tested your viral load so at least you know you have it.
No question.
As Lynn said most of us have had it for a very long time before we were diagnosed. I had it for 30 years, not sure about Surfside but I think similar.
It is very slow moving, you have time to research it, obtain more knowledge
Everyone here will be more than happy to help as we have been there
The good news is also the newer treatments are so much easier than the old interferon treatments.
If I were you, I would stop drinking, like yesterday
Try eating a liver healthy diet just to help your liver work as well as it can until you can get to the specialist.
My best to you
Dee
Thank you, does my white blood cell count matter, should I get a second test, it was a complete physical workup. All my other test came back good liver kidneys everything so I am very confused. My doctor says he does not know how to read the test and they still treated by doing IVs
Ok on my test results hepatitis c antibody....Rective then next line signal 2 cut off 28.80 H.then hcv rna quantitative real time PCR 978812H under that it says 5.99H.Do you have a clue what this means?thank you.
My doctor told me he does not know how to read the test, but he said that my blood work for my liver and kidneys came back really good I am totally confused. I wish I knew what my numbers mean, the 28. 80H and5.99 H .So I have 2 wait 4 a specialist to call me and I don't have no clue how long it's going to be. THANKS AGAIN 4 ALL YOUR HELP!!My doctor said that I have to go in and get Ivy's that's how they do it and then it could cause ammonia. Tell he was right he hasn't a clue. Again thank you so much
Thank you!!I'm so confused because the dr. That gave me the test results doesn't know how to read the test, I just went in for a complete work up, he does not know how 2 read the test said he was surprised that they put the # on it.Not his specialty so he's sending me to a specialist who I might not see you for 6 months. What????
The best person to ask this question is the doctor that prescribed your test. You had a test for the hepatitis C anti-bodies this test appears to have come back positive however this does not mean you have hepatitis C you have to have a different test to confirm the present of the actual virus. About 25% of people who test positive for hepatitis C antibodies were able to beat the virus on their own and do not test positive for the virus itself.
In order to confirm whether or not you are currently infected with hepatitis C you must have to have the HCV RNA by PCR test to confirm if you are currently infected with appetite a C virus
