Anemia

After the first two weeks of tx, my viral load went from almost 4 million to 35,000!!!

I am in the Epogen trial study that includes the PI Boceprevir as part of the tx. My Hgb is now 10 so tomorrow I will be randomized into one of the two arms which are 1) dose reduction; or 2) Epogen injections.

I'm really excited even if it doesn't mean much yet. I know that SVR is in my future!

Thanks to everyone for all the support and encouragement, the insight and knowledge that you are all so willing to freely share. What a wonderful group of people (most) of you are. (I have seen a few freaky comments.) lol.

Best to all.

You're lucky to be in the study. Keep going and congrats. My hemoglobin was 15.1-15.7 after several tries so I couldn;t get into the study. very dissapointing, but good to know better tx for 1a will be available eventually. good luck-Dave

Hi Jaz,
I'm guessing the answer to your question is yes, they check VL q 2 wks because of the study, which is how often I go check in. I am really excited about the progress I'm seeing on paper, it is so encouraging.

I was put into the Epo arm today. Gee was randomized into the dose reduction arm of this particular study, so we are both pioneers and all that we are going through now will not only benefit us, but will help others in the future too.

While my platelets and neutrophils have dropped, they are still within normal range. But the Hgb is the determining factor for randomization in this study. And I saw today that my ALT is down to 19!! This treatment is kicking HepC butt!!! :)

Good luck to you with treatment as well. And also to you Gee!! :) I will try to update on how the Epo is going for me as it has a chance to work. I'm on Interferon shot # 6 next week. Only 42 to go after that one!! woohoo.

I remember you started treatment a few days after me.  I know your sx were rough those first couple of weeks.  I am so happy for you that you have responded so well.  My doc didn't do the VL test at 2 weeks, but at 4 weeks.  Did you have it because you are in a study?  Sincere congrats to you, Pos, and I look forward to  hearing your good news updates through your tx.

Way to go...
