animal scraches.

I have a question.my bff mom has hep c from time to time she comes over just so happen say she holds one of my birds and my bird scraches her open and later on down the line my bird scraches me can i catch hep c what is the chance?and if so why do all these vets not have any dieases for animal like hiv and hep c because my vet for my bird gets bit, scrached and god knows what else from m any different animals.anyways i hope i dont sound to ignorant thanks.

Hep C and HIV cannot be transmitted in the way you describe.

The only know disease that can transfer from your pet bird, as you descibe, is...........chirpees

awwww hahaha ok so  u made me giggle:) well my babie has already gave me chirpees i have five birds so i have chhirpees 5 times i guess

I am happy that your question has  been answered. The reason people get a wide range of responses on similar topics to this is because those of us here who have or who have had Hepatitis C are very sensitive to the unfair stigma attached to this disease. So when someone posts a concern about an extremely improbable or impossible transmission scenario people understandably get upset because we assume that anyone really concerned would first take a few minutes of their time researching the topic independently before posting in a forum with people afflicted with the disease. I'm sure your intent was not to upset people, but I'm just trying to explain why some people may have been upset. Anyway, you will not get hepatitis C from from your pet birds so hopefully your concerns are over.
