Yes, INF can trigger auto-immune disorders and once you have one, you are more susceptible to others. INF treatment has it's risks in regard to auto-immune conditions.

I don't know what stage of liver damage you have but I hope this will be hopeful news for you. In the meantime, there are others who are not able to do treatment who are using various strategies to contain progression of their liver disease. Perhaps you're doing that already. Some of those folks post here and they would be happy to share with you if that's something of use to you.

The treatment that includes a protease inhibitor still also includes interferon. If your doctor doesn't want you to treat, it's probably because of the interferon which can worsen auto-immune disorders. Treatments that don't include IFN are still in the experimental stage and will probably be a few more years coming, if they happen.
