Update on anemia

Yesterday we saw husbands PCP and he spent a 1/2 hour just talking everything through with us.  He listened to our concerns and he answered many questions regarding anemia and lab work.  BTW, hgb actually went up this week from 7.6 to 7.7. I know it's a very tiny increase, but at least it went up and not down!  Hopefully that means the extra Procrit has kicked in and maybe he can increase the Riba again.  He said given my husbands age and good cardiac health they aren't too worried about his hgb right now.  If it were to drop to 6.0 or below then they would consider other measures.  We both felt a lot better after that and I think it gave my husband the boost he needed to make it through these last six weeks.  Of course, now I'm more annoyed that the gastro took him off of Riba for three weeks due to a hgb in the 8's, but with two PCR's being UND I can't stress over that right now.  Last night was shot 18/24, woo-hoo!

Thanks Scott.  I appreciate all your feedback and I wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season.  I think you're right, we will be doing a lot of celebrating in 2007.  I can't wait!

Glad to hear things are looking better. Maybe they could keep him on treatment a couple extra weeks to make up for reduced riba. That is something my doctor told me to consider.

I did not see that post.  To have a doc who actually went through treatment is comforting because they DO know what you are going through, unlike most of the docs who try to sympathize with you.  In reality it's almost impossible for anyone to know what it's like.  I include myself in that b/c hubby is the one treating, not me!
