hi all
i am new here from pakistan.....hubby is recently diagnosed with hepc,,,,,,,,,,starting interferons soon


i want to ask that will hubby has to avoid oily foods and too mush sweet foods during treatment or there will be no restriction of that.....................waiting for replies

A food your  husband might want to stay away from while on treatment is grapefruit,it is known to interact with a long list of medication.

Welcome to the forum! If he is on triple tx, with Incivek for the first 12 weeks, he will actually be forced to eat a very high fat diet during that stage (20 mg of fat within 30 minutes prior to pill), as that medication is carried and absorbed via fat. Other than that one drug there are no real dietary restrictions except eating enough and including some fats for better absorption of the ribavirin. Most people lose their appetite and lose some weight while on interferon and ribavirin. I gained 6 pounds during the high-fat Incivek phase, then lost 25 pounds during the latter phase of only interferon and ribavirin (in spite of eating whatever I wished). We can better tailor answers when the questions include more details, so please excuse me if some of this is not relevant. Good luck to you and your husband!

He can eat whatever he can during treatment. He should eat some fatty foods with the tablets.
