gabapentin

Hi everybody hubby finished tx in April last year, he achieved SVR thank god but it made his periphal neuropathy a lot worse and he is only getting a few hours sleep a night before the pain wakes him up so he as to get up to try to allieviate the pain. His doc as tried all kinds of tablets but none have worked so far. A few days ago she put him on gabapentin and i just wondered if any of you have had it and if so does it help? Any thoughts or ideas will be much appreciated because the pain and lack of sleep is really starting to get him down. Thanx in advance Jules

Possibly if the gabapentin does not work  speak with the Physician about  "lyrica' .it is a refined form of Gaba  and  seems to have good clinical success for neuropathy  ..off label

I find it personally better than gabapentin

Best...

Congratulations on SVR!  I have neuropathy in feet.  Began before treatment 4 yrs ago and worsened during.  At one point so bad, I had massage therapist come to home.  That helped a lot..for all muscles, not just feet.  When strength returned after treatment, I used machine at YMCA to press weights with my feet, and walking helps too.  I take potassium supp for cramping.  Over the years, my neuropathy has improved.  It has minimized from my entire foot to just the outside areas.  My doctor said our bodies have the ability to regenerate some nerve pathways.  I think that must account for my improvement.  I no longer suffer with the neuropathy.  It's still annoying however.  Congrats again on SVR and thank God for mindful spouses.  Mine suffered through treatment with me also.
