Question about HepC

Does Hepatitis C Increases Diabetes Risk??
Is anything that can help against the risk
Been searching this topic but keep getting mix results any input wil be great
Any other things that hepC can put you at risk of?

I agree with you about Type 1 Diabetes.

I alao agree with you about testing newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetics for HCV (but I also think there should be routine testing for HCV).

I have type 1 diabetes.  Formerly known as "juvenile diabetes".  However, I was diagnosed as an adult (a young adult, early 20s) after my suspected exposure to HCV.  Tattoo in the early 80s.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease.  I have no functioning islet cells in my pancreas, attacked by my immune system.  It is a very different disease than T2 diabetes.  I have an insulin pump and T1 cannot be managed with diet and exercise.

I absolutely believe that it was caused by HCV...  I wish someone would test adults newly diagnosed with T1 diabetes for HCV infection...

As far as reducing your risk for Type 2 Diabetes in general, whether you ave Hepatitis C or not, a healthy diet (fresh vegetables and fruits, lower fats, no fast food or junk food) and regular exercise are extremely important in Diabetes prevention. Also, if you are overweight, losing weight helps prevent Type 2 Diabetes. If you have already developed Type 2 Diabetes, weight loss may be all you need to clower your blood sugar to normal levels. Lowering cholesterol and quitting smoking can also help.

HCV is  documented to  possibly be causel of many problems extra hepatic(outside the liver) and diabetes is one the connection is still a grey area
It is a fact that many more HCV patients do have type 2 diabetes in relation to the general public
