genotype 2b

I got my results back and I have genotype 2b as far as I can tell.  The nurse read the paper to me because she could not understand it, and said she will fax it to gastro.  I see him on tuesday.  What does this mean for me? Is There anything I should be looking into before I see him?  I know type 2 is easier to treat but I can't find any info other than that.  What does the b mean?

I have interstitial cystitas and am currently treating on triple therapy. I have noticed no change so far in my condition. On treatment we are supposes to be drinking so much water that it makes it hard to seperate the cause of the frwquent urination. I was told that my intersticial cystitis was caused by my immune system attacking my bladder, a really bad infection or unknown cause. I did have a really bad kidney infection during pregnancy and have never been normal since. Did my hep c cause or exasberate this? I don't know. It will be interesting to see how my IC is after tx if I achieve svr.
I am interested, did u get the ic after you had hep c? Do you have just frequent urination or pain too?
To answer your question, yes you can treat and should. If our immune system is mistakingly attacking other organs trying to find the hep c we should get rid of the hep c asap! Good luck:)

I've known about the ic for almost 8 years and it started with strep/staph infections in my bladder.  My biggest problems are incomplete emptying and urethral burning.  DMSO has worked miracles for me.  As far as the hep C I don't know when or how I got it.  I assume I've had it atleast since I was a teenager.  I have frequent abdominal pain but I also have endometriosis and ovarian cysts.  I've had crazy itching, unexplained rashes, headaches and fatigue most of my life so I assume I've had the hep C for as long.

Hi

The b is just a sub set of geno2 it does not really mean much as far as TX goes.

This is a good place to find answers. It does take some time to understand the hep c thing

Good luck

I apologize I was too quick to ask my question and wasn't didn't at all ask what I was intending. I also have interstitial cystitis which "may" be an auto immune disorder.  What happens if you treat with auto immune disorders?  I read everywhere you shouldn't but what happens if you do anyway or have one and don't know?
