Yup, it's a serious drag alright. But thankfully it grows back - unfortunately it's mostly on your arse.
I hated losing my hair, I wore the cutest hats though. And I went online and got the cutest wig~ ! Even my husband thought I was adorable in the wig. don't worry, your hair will grow back, all of it!
I echo what has been said above. I am losing my hair too (week 21). No patches but it is very thin now. I may start covering up with a scarf or wig if it gets to that point. I find I'm constantly picking hair off of me and loads comes out in my brush. I am hesitant to use products of any kind. I figure I'll just wait it out and hope that my hair grows back better than ever once I'm done with tx.
Good luck!
You gals are amazing, I havent had hair loss yet. But maybe hats, scarves could help. much love
if u can remind yourself that this is the price for clearing the virus and that it will not last forever u might be less stressed. wigs can be purchased on line but i think going to a wig shop first to determine size color style then to order online. as nygirl found she enjoyed her new wigs and changing styles. insurance should cover cost if u have med ins.
i am not unsympathetic as i lost all hair on cancer chemo and about 40% on hcv treatment. but health is most important. good luck and congrats on viral status, babs
It's embarrassing for me too. My hair is patchy, and it still seems to be falling out three months post tx. Here's to hoping our hair comes back, cheers.
Hair loss can be problematic during tx, but I would hold off on using any treatments for it, topical or otherwise. Continued tx will probably negate any benefits and the remedy itself could tax your liver even more right now. As helpful as the HCV meds can be, they still place a tremendous burden on the very organ they are designed to help.
I used wigs during the latter part of tax, as well as scarves and hats, and they got me through it. Made me feel less self conscious through it all.
Best of luck to you, Pam
