Yes, it seems you have a lazy and disinterested doctor treating you. I would seek another hepatologist to see you through the next 24 weeks of treatment. You need the best information and support you can get during this treatment. What sort of doctor is the one who never sees you? A gastro?
No, treatment on these drugs is supposed to be the same the world over. I live in Australia. there are some minor differences, but protocol is definitely the same.
If you have the results of your fibroscan, then you will know what stage your liver was at when you began treating. If you are cirrhotic, then it doesn't matter now what stage you were at before you started treating. You take the mneds, eat a good diet, stay away from drugs and drink, and your liver will get a long, big rest. Afterwards, if you are still concerned, then have another fibroscan.
Good luck.
The first time I did treatment, I too had cirrhosis. Midway through treatment I switched from the GI I was seeing to an experienced hepatologist ( liver specialist). The difference was incredible.
You may wish to do the same. Check hospitals or universities that have liver clinics.
Good luck
Yes had fiibroscan and doc said with that and bloods dosnt need to do biopsy to lnow i have cirhosis im cuming up for week 24 of 48 where hep c will be checked meant to b treated for 24 but because of cirhosis its 48 weeks never c my specialist bit always another dr as for week 12 rna not got a clue sorry just anxious and want to know what stage of cirhosis im at etc so next week they will test for hep c an hopefully it will be cleared sorry i only have limited info for yous and im gettin treated in uk so i dont know if its a bit dif thanks for reply asle
I don't understand how you could've reached Week 24 in your treatment, and not know whether you are Undetected. You seem to know that at WK4 you were still detected, but what about the Week12 RNA?
Either you aren't sure of what questions to ask, or your doctor is far too lazy to explain things to you.
i suggest you write down any questions you want the answers for, and write down your doctor's responses, and get back to us when you know.
How long are you treating for? That will depend on when you became undetected.
And how do know you have cirrhosis if no biopsy was done? Did you have a Fibroscan? If so, what was the result?
All them figures i gave had to ask doc n only knew to ask because of this great site
Thanks for ur quock reply can-do-man dont know if its been undetectable but checked at week four n it went down from 5. Something to 3.1 whatever that means also anemic haemogoblin sittin at 90 as i say my doc really tells me nothing i know im compensated nut in every week to get bloods checked but they have averaged out at them numbers i gave thanks
Do you know what week you first became undetected on treatment. As for cirrhosis it is really hard to tell with one's bloodwork alone as treatment effects them so much. I will say it is a good sign you have been able to keep treating............... Hang in there, wishing you the best.
