Just because you touch infected blood doesn't mean you will have contracted the virus. The infected blood has to pass into an open wound and into your blood stream. Additionally you wore protection so the risk is low. If you have serious concerns get tested. An HCV RNA test can detect it within 1-2 weeks.
How long does it take to test positive?
If a person exposed to hepatitis C becomes infected, virus particles (called HCV RNA) can be detected within 1-2 weeks. Liver function tests also will tend to rise during this timeframe. Hepatitis C antibodies appear after RNA is detectable and can take 3-12 weeks to appear.
