You don’t want to have a high score on a hepatitis c antibody test. If you have a hepatitis C antibody test result higher than 1.0 that would mean you might be infected with the hepatitis C virus. A score of 0.1 means you do not have antibodies to the hepatitis C virus in your blood. If you have a score higher than 1.0 it means you have been exposed to hepatitis c as some point and may be currently infected with the hepatitis c virus.

If you believe you had a risk of hepatitis C infected blood entering your blood stream you should wait 12 weeks after this potential exposure to have an antibody test. If your antibody test is positive you will need a test for the hepatitis C virus called the HCV RNA by PCR that looks for any hep c virus circulating in your blood stream. If that second test is positive you will need to be treated to cure your hepatitis C infection.
