Billy...your question is a bit too broad...pain as in what kind of pain? For me, yes, I did have right upper quadrant discomfort (not really pain) for years before I was diagnosed with Hep C. It's gone now that I was successful with treatment so I know it was related to the liver.
Hi there, I had the right side upper quardrent which was so bad I thought i had broken a rib. Anyways this was how i found out I had hep c. The pain would come and go and when it came i could not work for a week or two. Finally my doctor made an appointment with a rhumatologist and he did PCR and told me I had hep c. I ask him what that meant and his exact words were " Mam what this means is that you are going to die from hepatitis c. Went back to him after 48 weeks treatment and informed him that I was svr. Then he diagnosed me with R.A. and some other things. So that pain is how i found out I had hep c.
Not normally. It is usually an asymptomatic illness. Most people who have hepatitis c are not aware that they are infected by the virus. When the hepatitis c virus causes extensive damage to the liver then people may have pain along with many other symptoms. This usually takes many decades of infection with the virus for this to happen and it doesn't happen to most people with hepatitis c.

I should have mentioned that in the accute stages of Hepatitis you can feel pain upper right quadrent the cause of this pain is due to acute inflammation, irritation, and distention of the liver’s surface.
Hi Billy, could you be more specific about your pain. later stage liver damage and the result of the liver not working properly can cause pain in the body, but usually you have no painful symptoms from HCV until the disease causing virus is far advanced
