silly question

has anyone during treatment had a NON alchohol beer or glass of NON alcohol wine. Having a couple over for dinner and would like to have a glass of "pretend" wine or a beer. Minimal amount of alcohol but still.................wanted to participate BUT  not  mess up treatment or contribute to any damage to my precious liver. Just a silly question

My kids I didn't mean to imply in any way that you have a drinking problem.  I unfortunately have a long history of very addictive behavior which probably greatly tempers my responses on this subject.

In fact I can guarantee you of that.

I'm sorry if it came off badly, I always think what if someone else is reading the responses that does have a problem...to just say, no it's no problem could be just the permission that they'd need to start running that race.

Again, sorry for any miscommunication I'm not always the most eloquent speaker and I apologize if it came out at you.

I did try the non alcohol wine simply because I didn't want to draw attention to myself and have to offer any explanations at a party I went to.  The hostess of the party knew my situation and discreetly served me the "juice."  In hindsight, I was too sensitive about people noticing what  was doing and the fake wine was horrific - me being a wine geek in a wine geek crowd.   Anyway, henceforth I just had juice in a wine glass.  I cannot fathom that there would be any problem with it and look at the alcohol and cake post!!  lol

I don't drink NA drinks on treatment but I do occasionally off treatment. I like Coors na. I once found an NA Spumonte loved it. Also FRE wine is not to bad.

@nygirl, I guess if you were a person with a drinking problem, which I am not. I am a person with hep c it would be an issue. Thanks for your opinion. I'll be more careful next time I post. Maybe>

I'd prefer the brownies over the fruit bowl, or Jamaican bung hole rum cake, however I do like tossed salad, or even rum bundt cake...LOL

Cheap entertainment,,,,Ya gotta luv it...
Have a Great Dinner whatever you choose...

I took a nap, woke and started reading this thread.  Dang, got some emotions flying for a bit, but glad to see it resolved.  Great group of people here.  At least I wasn't guilty of derailing this time ;-)

A nice cold alcohol free St. Pauli Girl sounds yummy right now, as long as her name isn't Ginger.......

BTW, i do not think it was a silly question, as a matter of fact a really good one that i'm glad you asked......... For some if anyone even mentions alcohol they let their emotions take the place of logic, same as with pot....... Do i encourage the use/? No, but neither am i going to hype my answer do to my thoughts.

I get that a non-beer is the issue, but really if it is that much of an issue...maybe it s just not worth it.

My op and probably everyone here getting/looking for being cured. Not worth it -mentally.

Why ask if you already have decided the answer?

On treatment you would have had to put a gun to my head to get me to dose reduce or get me to drink. I wanted SVR and got it. It was not pretty but I knew what I had to do.

Kind if simple unless you are willing to play that cr@p shoot with worse odds. Then, why bother?

I made some Chocolate Chip Cookies ONCE. I ate the first one and felt nothing, so I ate another one. I didn’t feel much so I ate 2 more. About a half-hour later I realized I should have given them more time to kick in and I shouldn’t have ate those last 2.

It's not a silly question. It sure seems to have galvanized a lot of emotion though. I'm an recovering alcoholic so I can't drink.  Still, imo non-alcoholic beer tastes horrible and nothing like normal beer. Plus, no way could I consume such a huge amount of wasted calories and carbs.

Here is a cut an paste related to non-alcoholic wine that I agree with. It's like why bother with the charade when there are other high quality, flavorful beverages available:
