Lab issues before I'm even in the study

Ok, this is unbelievable!  I just got a call from my study coordinator.  Seems the lab they have to use for all study results has informed us they cannot decipher my geno.  Twice.  I already went in for a followup geno test last week.  This is crazy because I had the geno match done a year ago without issue at another lab - 1A.  Now the study monitor is giving us one more chance to get the geno.  My Dr is sending blood to the study lab as well as another lab the same day in order to double check results.  This actually could ban me from this study coming up.  Come on, lab people!  Get your stuff together.  Soon I'll have HCV AND an ulcer!

It does sound frustrating.  Glad they're not just retesting the same potentially contaminated blood.

Dave, wouldn't that be great..."oh we can't get a result because you don't have any HCV in your blood."  A guy can dream I guess.  Neptune, I tested once for this study about 2 weeks ago.  First test inconclusive on geno so I went back in last week for another needle stick and test.  Monday I go in for my 3rd needlestick for this test.  I don't ee why they can't just use results from my previous lab.  More concerning is going in for this study and not getting accurate results.

Make sure your doc knows how to handle the blood.  For some tests, there are specifc procedures like freezing, spinning etc.

You got a new blood-draw for the new test, from a new needle-stick, right?

What a ridiculous obstacle Adam. I hope this next test comes back with the correct result, although it would be nice if it came back as geno 2!

Good luck in getting this resolved,
Dave
