dancing with the devil

Well, received my last preapproved shipment of a 4 pack of peg and riba last week, ironically they sent me my monthly 224 riba, plus an additional 168...Near as I can figure they sent me the difference for the weeks prior to my riba dosage increase(s)--strange.
Now we dance with the devil (insurance company) for the additional 24 weeks worth of meds, at least my hep doc said the fridge was full of samples and not to worry about med lag time...Have already spoken to C to C as a back up plan.....
Funny, I was originally worried about making it through 48 weeks of treatment,,,now in week 44,worried about running out of meds and extending my ride to 72 weeks (lol!!!)
I haven't needed ad's, but suspect I might when I finally get to the end....treatment separation anxiety!!!! (vbg)

Thanks nygirl...I think my ducks are in a row. In fact I just called Specialty Scripts to begin the approval refill/battle process while I still have a full months supply of meds left and will use C2C if I'm denied on appeal......if it goes that far, never know, BCBS just might go ahead and recertify......
Thanks again, nygirl, and sorry for your recent loss.....

My insurance would not approve my extension (even though Dr. Jacobson signed off on it) as they said it was experimental (nice...).

anyway - I contacted Committment to Care and they sent me every single solitary thing I needed, even the syringes. It was easy - they WANTED to help.

All you have to really have is a letter showing that the insurance denied it and voila!

I would try doing that if I was you for peace of mind.  Plus...if another person comes along and nobody even TELLS them about C2C the samples will still be available for them.

It's worth a shot you know?

I loved them they couldn't have helped me more they were just so awesome!

Having completed treatment and since I was dx'd last summer, with no insurance, everyone from the hospital who did the bx and the drug companies, were nothing short of flawless in providing me with my medication, ( Intron and Rebetol via Schering and Procrit via Ortho Biotech ) PAP programs. North Methodist Hospital wrote off all of my costs and refunded money that I didn't really push them to refund. In FACT, they called me right before the deadline ended to tell me, 'Hey get this in and you could qualify.' I thought, yeah yeah yeah. I got 100%. About $9000 I had paid for a trip to the ER, MRI, and a liver bx.

I would describe it, looking back and having all that anxiety of 'how am I going to pay for this' as being nothing short of stellar.

During my tx time here and reading about some of the problems have with their insurance companies I'm actually glad I didn't have insurance. I am in my early 50's and had a mild heart attack a few years previous and was unemployed/self-employed and discovered that health insurance was high high high with my pre-existings. At the time, and for another 9 months, I had child support of $1300/mo, equal house payment,  etc..and just thought....gotta roll the dice here. Well low and behold...I started getting sick ( and tired ) and got the HCV dx and doc recommended the tx.

So, I begrudingly filed for the PAP's not expecting much but to my surprise, the drug companies came through for me. As did the Methodists, god bless 'em. I never worried, not once, that they were going to 'cut me off'. They were always helpful, prompt, courteous. With all that is said badly about them I have to say, they came through for me like a champ. Further, my docs cut me deals for being uninsured for lab work and visits.

I can't say a bad thing about my experience with the health care 'system'.
