Hep C awareness: let's get Margaret on National TV !

       In an effort to increase awareness about hepatitis C, I am asking all of you to contact the Daily Show and/or the Colbert Report requesting they interview Margaret Dudley.

Instead of complaining about bad hep C jokes, let's take action.

These shows reach a large audience.

Barrage them with tweets, post on their facebook page, get the word out that it's time people learned about this silent epidemic. Tell your kids, friends and relatives to do the same.

Margaret is the author of the petition on change.org requesting Gilead to work with Bristol Myeres in further trials on the best hep C fighting drug combo.

I sent messages, lets spread the word, put it on your face book page, send it to your friends.

Here's my letter:

There is a silent epidemic infecting 1 out of 12 people world wide. It is responsible for more deaths in the US than AIDs, and is the leading cause of cirrhosis, liver cancer and liver transplantation.
This killer can go undetected for years, yet a simple blood test will detect this virus~ hepatitis C.

    An estimated 5 million people in the U.S. (1 in 50) have been infected with the hepatitis C virus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 2/3 of infected Americans are unaware of their status.

I didn't know I had hep C until I had advanced cirrhosis. I did the treatment,24 weeks of injections of a horribly difficult drug, relapsed, had a liver transplant and recently did treatment again. There are better treatments currently being developed.

To break the silence and ignorance about this virus, I'd like to urge you to consider having Margaret Dudley as a guest on your show. Margaret is the author of a petition on change.org to get Gilead to work with Bristol Myers to finish testing the best cure for hep c to date.

p.s If you're unsure of what to say, try something along these lines: Hep C kills more people than AIDS and is the leading cause for liver transplants, cirrhosis and liver cancer in the US.  And we are told there is a cure but that "profit concerns" are keeping it from our reach.
