I am losing the hair on my back from TX, very distraught!

The hair on my back seems to be thinning quite heavily from TX. It was hard to take this pic this morning but I have really long arms and wanted to see what you thought. Is there anything that I can do to prevent this? Will it ever come back?

goofydad -- yes, we have a definite lack of female razors here (so just use the manly kind) and an overabundance of gun racks (you should see my bedroom).  I think I will adopt that moniter - bean countess.  (If the shoe fits and all that..... )   How is sunny CA, by the way

spectada - there may be no hope for me in the eyebrow area.  Hubby was just commenting on my Harkonen brows the other day, and I am 4 years post tx.  I guess this is one of the long term side effects of interferon that is never mentioned (Assumable because of its delicate nature)

justjames - I find your avatar absolutely disturbing.-- goofy said it very well ha ha

Are those real eyebrows or are they tattooed? Good to hear the fur grew in thicker then ever! Thanks for the offer to donate, but I don't know anyone would really believe I am a real blonde!

I can see from your avatar the delightful shade of blonde. It must be nice when the Afghan sun hits it in the first light.

Hi Silverback-

Thank you for sharing your experience, It makes it easier knowing others have shared something so traumatic! I must admit there's nothing sexier then a woman with a hairy back.

I am touched that your hubby voluntarily gave up his "tufts" for you, such devotion and love! I found myself weeping as I read your post.

I am inspired by your story and your ability to turn something so difficult into into something so special as regular shaving dates. I was thinking that maybe you should mix it up with a few waxing dates, plucking dates, and maybe eventually invest in an electrolysis machine!

Keep it fresh!

My goodness...I find this so sad.  It seems when tx gets us down, there's always an extra kick.  How do we survive???

I must say when I was on tx, my back hair was the first thing to go.  I did try the eyebrow fix, but it just didn't work for me.  I know eyebrows aren't easy to discuss, but I just wanted to let everyone know they're not alone.  Let's face it....eyebrows happen.

Hubby and I decided to think outside the box on this one.  As a show of solidarity...he shaved his back...totally bald!!!!!!.  I was floored that he would do that for me.  It really brought us to a different level.

Gotta say...1 year post tx...we still have our special back shaving date on Friday nights. Things couldn't be better.

Try something new.  Keep it fresh.

For the record, when my back hair starts to grow in...it's totally different.  Straight and gray!!!  If not for shaving, I'd now be a Silverback!!!

Good luck to you and the wife.  We're all here for you.

((((HUGS)))))

"it was really hard to get back into leg shaving."

Was this because of a lack of female razors sold in west Texas? It's hard to find a gun rack here.

spectda - yeah, that too, but believe me, at 62, the effect is not nearly so stimulateing

Also  Spectda - yes watch out for those nose hairs - and I will tell you another thing - those little twirly things don't work worth a dam

Since tx I have noticed 2 hairs that grow from the tip of my nose.
I pluck them but they seem to grow back over night.
I will start saving them for you incase you need some seedlings.

Hmm… Maybe tell Consuelo Dos Gatos if she takes the first ten shots for you, you might consider it :o)? Just think of the money you’d save on razors!

It’d be great to hear from her if she ever finds time to stop in. Too cool you both keep in touch too, Kath. She has pals here if she ever gets bored and wants some entertainment… be sure to say hi for me next time you talk.

Always nice to see you Kathy—

Hey, Bill, I talked to old fishdoc a couple of weeks ago (via email).  She is still alive and well, sexing those fish and whatever else the heck she does.  She sais she would come back to the forum if I treat again.  Almost makes me want to start tomorrow.  She is a hoot

And Dave -- if not eyebrow hairs, what?  Should I start on nose hairs?

LMAO! Aw, Kathy; this brings back fond memories of Fishdoc and talks of gonopodium (gonopodae :o))? And I didn't even know fish had um... male organs.

Glad to get your input here; I figured you'd have valuable info for poor Dave. Fish guts should do the trick, I think; if not, they'll ferment nicely into organic emulsion.

Hi Kathy-
I think eyebrow hair is a bit personal for a public forum, I am a little embarrassed  discussing it! I know we are all friends here but a person has their limits!

ps-I haven't shaved my legs since TX began either!

Yes, I am sure cats like carp.  BUt all you need are the guts -- they can have what is left.  Huxley was definitley a man of the future.  What a brain!

All I remember about TX and hair was the loss of hair on my head and legsand underarms  (didn't have to shave for almost a year but the enormous amount of hair in my eyebrows.  Do you have that too?

I remember Huxleys writing well, although not the book When many a summer dies a swan.
I read brave New World, Island, and The Doors of Perception , Aldous was certainly ahead of his time

Now that you mention it, it sounds like many a  summer was probably about a man who had been infected with HCV. Hell that Aldous was like an oracle!

I think carp guts might be better then a shag carpet, I stopped getting the bikini wax because of the burning pain, and I don't know if I could bear it when it's time to remove.

Do cats like carp?

Thanks for your suggestions. This is very personal and private and not easy to discuss. The fish emulsion didn't really work and the cats are yowling like they are in heat. Perhaps the shag carpet would be the way to go, but I thought they only made it in glow yellow/green?

I have a lot to think about.

I think I have got the solution.  I remember reading a book by Aldous Huxley (you remember him  -- the guy who went out in a cloud of LSD) called When Many a Summer Dies the Swan.

The main character was rich and looking for the way to eternal life.  He hired a biologist to research the life of carp who live for hundreds of years.  That biologist turned up some obscure manuscript written over a hundred years ago  The conclusion was a diet of carp guts would give eternal life.  The biologist and the wealthy man journied to europe to vist the castle where the original research was done.  There in that castle they discovered the man who had wrote the manuscript, still alive.   He had changed into what amounted to an ape -- vey hairy..  Still alive, but not exacty stimulating.

So, there you go.  Start on those carp guts right away.  The side effect will be eternal life.

Wow - absolutely not a chick thread here!  Glad I found it -- it was referenced on the HGB thread on the other side and sounded mighty intriquing.

Dave, you might check with your local oncology department and see if they have a shop.  I know, at least in our community, women suffering hair loss from chemotherapy can get for free or nearly nothing, wigs of good quality.

In fact perhaps you should start a national inquiry and try to get hair donations across the country for this worthy cause.  We could actually give shorter hair than the usual ponytails.  Can they superglue those hairs on, by the way?  Next time I get my hair cut, I can ask my beautician (and I use that term lightly) if I can have the sweepings.

thewifelife -- it is very nice to meet you and get your input on this topic. I am glad to see you have found that the forum is helpful for all kinds of TX related issues.

Yes I still have hair at 110 and hopefully you will to. The only problem is it looks more like a hairy fungus.

I forgot weaves are attached to existing hair so, this rules out weaves.
I did have a revelation about the Wig. All we have to do is find you some Old Shag Carpet and some Construction Adhesive. I am sure we can get these items donated.
If not and your finances are low, we can print the picture of your back, tape them to jars, and place them in local businesses.
After this cruel sx is gone and you feel it is time, we can rip the carpet off your back. It will be like getting a Bikini Wax. Hopefully the new hair will grow back fuller than before.
We refuse to allow you to go through this alone. Sometimes it takes tragedies such as this for us to lay our petty differences aside and come together as a family.
We are here for you buddy, R. Glass.
