Would've loved to have been there, if it happened 10 yrs. later!  I was only 7 in '69. Hendrix was a staple in our '33 collections in the late 70's (and had to have one of those quadraphonic stereos!).  Awesome ax man he was.

I don't own any Hendrix albums. On purpose, for when I hear a song of his it's like someone has just given me a huge gift, right there right then, wherever I am.

I never saw him in concert but sat thru the woodstock movie 2 times and then bought the 8 track.  Country Joe and the Fish also stands out in my mind, gimme an F   LOL
Jim Morrison--Weird Scenes in the Gold Mine, I loved all the Doors albums (what is that, album?)
I forget who but Wind Up Workin' in a Gas Station was an insane one that we wore out......maybe Frank Zappa, not in Hendriz catagory but we liked it.

I was in San Fran during the late 60s and I saw a lot of bands. The one thing that stood out about Hendrix was that no one seemed to rush the stage like they did with so many acts. We just watched and listened because there was no need to try and make it more exciting - he was all the excitement we could handle.I saw him once in Boston - he played for close to 2 hours and everyone thought the show was over and all of a sudden Jimi jumped 4 feet off the floor and as he hit the ground he struck the first chord of Foxy Lady - no one moved. We were absolutely mesmerized. He really was a true genius.

A young twenty-year old named Stephen Victor Tallarico (aka Steven Tyler of Aerosmith) showed up in the crowd as a fan.

I like his biography by Charles Cross called "Room Full Of Mirrors". He used to play guitar on a broom until one of his aunts convinced his dad he should buy him a guitar.

Hey there...I'm still alive and well, just get so darned wrapped up in that book writing, I am even more of a hermit, and hours, days, pass without 'checking in' with those I love!  So, what's up sister?  That old "Summer of '69"...was FAB-U-LOUS!!! What a time it was.  I was at the Denver Pop Festival, and Hendrix was there (I 'mentioned' a while back about this 'Guitar god' crossing through my path.  It's also the summer I move to Los Angeles...OH WHAT FUN!!!

Anywhoo, Just wanted you to know, I think of you, but I just get 'stuck' in whatever I'm typing on this darn 'machine'.  All is well with my life, NOT looking forward to next year, when I start 'treating', with the 'third ingredient' to the MAGIC COCKTAIL!!!

But, hoping and praying it's what they claim it will be...easier on me, and working better for everybody!!!  I hope.  I'm at page 108 in the 'writing', it might 'qualify' now, as on its way to being 'a novel'...we'll see.  Take care. Big HUGS

Exactly I´ve said the same many times he and the guitar was one pitty he died so young .
I´ve heard prominant music people comparing him with Mozart even Bethhoven if he just had comed of the drugs and lived longer.

Listen to the team in this tune from electric ladyland its a symphony!!!
PARTICULARY  5 minuts 40 second in the tune thats when the genius starts to shine through big time in my opinion.

I saw hendrix first time 1967 here in Sweden i was 14 at the time almost , and I`d never have heard of him before.
Someone said theres a very good american guitarrist in our big amusement park playing for free ( he got paid  but the audiens didn´t pay).

And Man what a sound  chocked me totaly in a positiv way, and that was the real old stuff wind cryes merry, foxy lady, hey joe joe know!!

I also love clapton but he shouldn´t play Hendrix tunes nobody but him can make that sound even to day I think!!

PS Also saw him at the same place 1970  just some months before he died The band of Gypsys but with M. Mitchels on drums instead of Buddy Miles !!
